Ohmite's TFS series of thick-film resistors

Ohmite Mfg Co. said the TFS series thick-film resistors absorb much more energy compared to standard film resistors, making them suitable for medical surge protection applications.

Available in six standard sizes, these flat, axial-leaded devices are available with power ratings of 0.5W to 2W, and energy ratings from 6 to 55 joules for a single impulse. These non-inductive devices offer a resistance range from 100? to 100 kiloohms with a tolerance as low as1 percent and a temperature of coefficient resistance (TCR) of 100ppm. Operating voltages range from 3kV to 11kV.

Other applications for these RoHS-compliant resistors include power supply conversions, electron microscopes, X-ray systems, high-resolution CRT displays and geophysical instrument-related products.

Pricing ranges from $1.22 to $2.11 each in quantities of 1,000.
