According to the press release, TiE will initially focus on 30 semiconductor and embedded technology firms in Hyderabad, which is emerging as a rival location to Bangalore for chip design.

TiE's strength is a network through 42 cities in 9 countries that consists of many participants in the entrepreneurial ecosystemsuccessful, experienced and budding entrepreneurs, venture capital firms, investors and service providers.

The also SIG plans to hold events and conduct initiatives for a better informed and better connected semiconductor industry in India. It will organize at least one event every quarter and will provide connectivity with semiconductor SIGs across TiE chapters in the United States.

India, which did not have a separate body for the semiconductor industry for long, now has two such associations with the first, the Bangalore-based India Semiconductor Association being set up two years ago.
