BCH501-BTC industrial charger

Absopulse Electronics' BCH501-BTC is a constant-voltage switchmode battery charger with automatic temperature compensation that's designed for use in industrial and other harsh environments. It can deliver 500W from a 110/220Vac (15 percent) input and provides standard output float voltages of 13.8Vdc at 36A, 27.6Vdc at 18A, or 55.2Vdc at 9A for 12V, 24V or 48V batteries, respectively. Other output voltages are available on request.

The charger's battery temperature compensation function ensures optimum charging at any temperature. The temperature sensor signals the charger to fine-tune its output voltage. As the battery temperature rises, the charge voltage is automatically reduced; when the battery cools, the charge voltage increases. The adjustment rate (slope) is approximately 3mV/cell/C for lead-acid batteries.

The charger has a low-battery disconnect function as well as a built-in charger fail alarm and an alarm for low-battery conditions. The unit also features inrush current limiting, over-voltage protection, rectangular current limiting with short-circuit protection, a self-resetting thermostat for thermal protection and battery reverse-polarity protection. The unit is rated for operation over -40C to 50C.

The convection/conduction cooled charger, measuring 6-by-2.63-by-13.82 inches and weighing 2.58kg, is priced at $514 in one to four quantities.
