Malaysia's BCT Technology Bhd. has received the green light from regulators to become the first IC design house to list on the local exchange.

BCT said the Malaysia Securities Commission has approved its plan for an initial public offering on the Bursa Malaysia in June. The company will put over 12 million shares up for grabs at 2 cents each.

The firm's financial results are not available publicly but in its corporate profile the company claims a compound annual growth rate of 45 percent per year.

BCT started out in 1994 as an electronic design automation firm in Singapore, but in recent years, it has attempted to expand into chip design, testing and manufacturing. The company already markets a line of ASSPs and ASICs for the consumer electronics sector, including LED display drivers, RFID transponders, and power supply controls.

In addition to branches in Singapore and India, it maintains a software solutions subsidiary in Malaysia and a manufacturing arm in Hong Kong.
