Nvidia Corp. has selected ViXS Systems' XCode II video processor for its DualTV MCE tuner card.

According to the press release, the DualTV card turns any media center computer into a home entertainment center. By integrating ViXS' single-chip, dual-stream MPEG encoder into its new PC TV tuner card, Nvidia offers consumers a powerful new TV tuner with such functions as dual-channel PVR and shrink-to-fit video compression for recording high-quality video.

DualTV fully utilizes the features integrated in Microsoft's Windows XP Media Center Edition. ViXS' XCode II brings advanced personal video recording capabilities to the PC, including dual channels that can support analog video feeds.

Using only a single PCI slot, the DualTV MCE tuner card leverages several key features of XCode II, including XCode II's ability to process two video feeds simultaneously; high-quality dual D1 MPEG encoding at low bit rates; high-speed transrate and transcode; 3D comb filtering; and flexible audio encoding.

"Consumers are increasingly demanding more control of how, when and where they access content," said Shawn Saleem, vice president and co-founder of ViXS. "Our standards-based technology enables top-tier manufacturers like Nvidia to capitalize on the growing role multimedia PCs are playing in simplifying video recording and management. We're very pleased to be working with them."
