Transceiver enables active RFID

The EV5041 from e-vision is a single chip ASK/FSK/BPSK UHF transceiver for active RFID applications such as tire pressure monitoring and ticketing. The incorporated YellowFoot transceiver is an integrated RF front-end with modem and flexible communication controller. Baseband data processing is implemented in the integrated communication controller for communication via SPI interface or in direct wire mode.

Configurable for use in 400MHz-500MHz and 800MHz-1,000MHz ISM bands, the Zigbee-compatible device is capable of data rates up to 9.6Kbps - 600Kbps in wire mode. Low cost ($1.49 each at 10,000 quantities) make the IC well suited for high volume applications.

The EV5041 is priced at $1.49 at 10,000 quantities. Samples are available now. Delivery is 8 to 10 weeks ARO.
