Exavio Inc. announced a 4Gbit Fiber Channel I/O module for the ExaMax 9000 SAN Accelerator. The I/O module is designed to support 4Gbit storage area network (SAN) devices and installs in the existing chassis, which boasts 4Gbit connectivity across 36 ports.
The ExaMax 9000 SAN Accelerator system is based on a nine-rack unit hardware platform comprising a large memory cache, scalable up to 1Tbyte. It aims to increase the efficiency and performance of existing SAN storage solutions.
The accelerator touts a dynamic cache, scalable from 128Gbytes to 1Tbyte. It seeks to mitigate random seek and concurrent access issues in storage. The platform can expand to 36 4Gbit Fiber Channel ports in one chassis to support various postproduction environments including uncompressed HD, 2K and 4K digital film resolutions.
A Java-based management application called ExaView monitors and manages the ExaMax platform storage virtualization and network environments through a GUI from a remote client.
