Market researcher IDC estimates compound annual growth rate was 148 percent for USB WLAN adapters between 2002 and 2005.

Atheros also announced that UTStarcom Inc. has introduced four PHS handsets using Atheros' AR1900 chipset. The handsets offer such features as color LCD displays and MP3 ringtone support.
