Mistral Solutions Pvt. Ltd, a provider of solutions and professional services in the embedded space, announced the availability of the RAD-2 from Pentland Systems, a solution specifically designed for the radar, software radio and signal intelligence markets.

The RAD-2 digital receiver PMC is designed for the acquisition of high-speed analog signals and offers a dual channel, 14bit resolution with up to 105MSps sampling speed and 16 individual down-converter channels provided by 4GC4016 down-converters for I&Q demodulation. According to the press release, substantial FPGA resources augment the dual 105MSps analog acquisition channels, and that high-bandwidth transfer over 64bit 66MHz PCI is enabled using powerful on-board DMA engines. Support for system-level functionality such as BIT is provided, and operating system drivers are available for VxWorks, Linux and Windows XP.

Mistral Solutions added that the RAD-2 has a powerful suite of post-acquisition DSP capabilities. It comes with a user-programmable Xilinx Virtex II FPGA for digital signal processing and analog-to-digital control, along with bi-directional high-speed FIFO buffers and a built-in-test with support for PBIT, IBIT and CBIT modes. RAD-2 is available in commercial and rugged conduction-cooled environmental versions.
