Maxim Integrated Products has introduced the MAX13101E, MAX13102E, MAX13103E and MAX13108E 16-channel bidirectional CMOS logic-level translators that provide level shifting to allow data transfer in multivoltage systems.

These new devices were designed to be inherently bidirectional and thus do not require a direction pin to determine the path of logic translation. The reduced component pin count makes these products suitable for portable equipment applications.

The MAX13101E, MAX13102E, MAX13103E and MAX13108E operate on 1.65V to 5.5V power supply and 1.2V to VCC logic supply. Also featuring transfer data rates of up to 20Mbps, these translators are designed for communications between low-voltage ASICs and higher voltage devices.

Additional features include 0.3?A quiescent current, 15kV ESD protection on the I/O VCC lines, and a shutdown state option. Three different output configurations are available during shutdown, allowing the I/O on either the VCC or VL side to be put on high-impedance state or pulled to ground through an internal 6KOhm resistor.

The new logic-level translators operate on a temperature range of -40C to 85C. These devices are available in 5-by-5mm, 40-pin TQFN and 3mm-by-3mm, 36-bump UCSP package. Prices start at $2.50 (1,000-up, FOB USA).
