Maxim Integrated Products has introduced the MAX4910 quad, SPDT analog switch, touted to be the first of its kind to handle negative signals with a single positive power supply, thus reducing external component count and improving audio-signal quality.

The MAX4910 features integrated shunt resistors to ground. Maxim said this design reduces audio click-and-pop sounds by depleting the capacitive charge that commonly builds up on the unconnected port of the switch to ground. In addition, the device has a low on-resistance of 0.37 ohm, on-resistance flatness of 0.35 ohm and total harmonic distortion of 0.05 percent, yielding excellent audio-signal quality, the company said.

The MAX4910 operates over the extended temperature range of -400C to 850C, and is packaged in a 3-by-3mm, 16-pin TQFN. Prices start at $1.34 in quantities of 1,000, FOB USA.
