UMC April sales up 33 percent

April sales at Taiwanese foundry United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC) increased 33 percent year-on-year to reach about $268 million.

The monthly sales were flat sequentially but showed a marked increase in year-on-year growth which stood at 20 percent in March. UMC's total sales for the first four months of the year were about $1.04 billion, an increase of 23 percent from the first four months of 2005, the company said.
