Taiwan PCB maker Wus Printed Circuit Co. Ltd disclosed its plan to set up a new subsidiary that will manufacture optoelectronics PCB this year.
According to the company, they will allot $15.6 million for the new facility, which will be located in Ningbo, Zhejiang. Construction is scheduled to commence this July, with volume production expected in the second half of 2007.
The new facility will have an initial monthly capacity of 1.5 million units. Wus expects demand for surface-mount PCBs to rise in June after a slight slump last month. However, it remains conservative in its demand estimates for PCBs used in optoelectronics and mobile handsets.
Wus reported a year-on-year growth of more than 30 percent in its Q1 revenues, with revenue reaching $87.8 million. The company's gross margins hit 6.22 percent and pre-tax profits reached $3.4 million for the same period.
