Vishay Intertechnology Inc. gives designers of mobile electronic systems another way to save board space with its series of 298D MicroTan surface-mount tantalum capacitors with face-down terminations.

These 298D MicroTan surface-mount capacitors provide capacitance values from 1F at 16V to 47F at 4V in 0603 and 0805 case sizes. Suitable for signal processing and power management applications in cellphones, digital cameras and MP3 devices, the 298D devices offer a capacitance tolerance of 20 percent, voltage ratings from 4WVdc to 16WVdc, low equivalent series resistance, and 0.01CV DC leakage values.

The solid tantalum chip capacitors devices are rated to operate over the temperature range of -55C to 85C, and can be operated to 125C with voltage derating. Offering lead-free and RoHS-compliant terminations, the 298D capacitors are available in 8mm tape-and-reel packaging per EIA-481-1 and per the IEC 286-178mm standard.

Samples of the 298D MicroTan tantalum capacitors are currently available. Production quantities will be available in June 2006 with a lead time of eight weeks.
