Nvidia Corp. introduced the new nForce 590 SLI media and communications processor (MCP), a motherboard solution for the latest and upcoming x86 PC platforms, including those based on socket AM2 processors by AMD.

The nForce 590 SLI MCP can use up to four GeForce video cards. The MCP provides features designed specifically for gaming, including: overclocking; FirstPacket networking technology that gives priority to network game traffic; LinkBoost technology, which is said to increase PCIe bus speeds on the motherboard; scalable link interface-ready memory; DualNet technology with dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, TCP/IP offload and bandwidth teaming capability; and support for up to 6 serial ATA 3Gbps hard drives and RAID configurations.

Consumers interested in purchasing nForce 590 SLI MCP-based products can look for products from system builders and motherboard manufacturers, including Abit, Aopen, Asrock, Asustek, BFG, Biostar, DFI, ECS, eVGA, Foxconn, Gigabyte, Jetway, MSI and Shuttle.
