ZiLOG Inc. has extended its Z8 Encore! XP portfolio of 8bit MCUs with the addition of the F0830 series. The F0830 is targeted at the Chinese MCU market, in applications such as entry level universal and brushed/brushless DC motor control, digital power management, battery charging, environmental sensors and electronic control of appliances.

The F0830 devices are flash MCUs based on the ZiLOG eZ8 CPU. The family supports up to 12Kbytes of flash program memory along with 256byte register RAM that is pin-for-pin compatible with other members of the Z8 family. This is said to provide a migration path from 1Kbyte to 12Kbytes.

The F0830 family includes features such as: a 20MHz 10MIPS eZ8 CPU core; 64bytes NVDS; 4 percent over full voltage and temperature; an analog comparator; two 16bit timers; 8-channel, 10bit, 11.9s ADC conversion; in-circuit flash programming; watch dog timer with failsafe; up to 18-vectored, prioritized interrupts; VDD from 2.7V to 3.6V; 20-pin and 28-pin packages; 5V tolerant I/O (digital pins only); QFN, SOIC, PDIP and SSOP packages; and -40C to 105C, or 0 to 70C options.

The F0830 series is supported by a development environment that uses a USB smart cable and optoisolated USB smart cable. The family is also supported by the ZDSII-Z8 Encore! XP integrated development environment with ANSI C-Compiler.

The F0830 family is available from ZiLOG's global suppliers. Pricing varies according to order quantity and version of the product.
