Fabless digital audio specialist JAM Technologies opened facilities in Singapore last week which the company said would better position it to serve customers in the consumer electronics industry.

Though the company first announced its presence here late last year, CEO Mike Holt said the opening "marks a JAM full-capability presence in Singapore" spanning everything from chip design and sales to test and product engineering.

Holt said the 18-member Singapore team is "well into development" of JAM's next-generation CMOS digital audio amplifier chip for the flat-panel TV market.

JAM said the new headquarters places it "in the center of world-class consumer electronics manufacturers," enabling it to offer faster response times and closer collaboration with digital audio IC customers.

"Proximity to our customers and suppliers is critical to how we bring value to our customers. Additionally, the significant presence of flat TV design groups in Singapore makes this an [advantageous] location for us," Holt said.
