Samtec I/O cable assemblies target rugged apps

Samtec Inc. offers Data Rate I/O cable plugs (VPDP series) and receptacles (VRDPC series) for high data rate, high reliability panel-to-panel and panel-to-board applications.

These high-density cable plugs use 30 AWG twinax micro ribbon cable and feature 100-ohm differential signal routing with 8, 12, 16 or 24 signal pairs. They are available with standard or reverse polarization and are suitable for longer length applications up to 1m.

Samtec's twinax cable exhibit low skew (pair-to-pair is less than 10ps/feet and within a pair less than 5ps/feet) and excellent EMI performance with a FCC Class A rating. They feature standard screw locks and alignment features for rugged applications.

The right-angle receptacles have contacts on 0.8mm pitch for mating with the high-density cable plugs. The system is rated at 1A per contact with a contact resistance of less than 15 milliohms per contact.

The VRDPC series is priced at approximately $6 for a 50-position interconnect in production quantities.
