With prices starting at less than $800, board maker Alphi Technology Corp. Released several PCI/cPCI (CompactPCI), PMC (PCI mezzanine card) and so-called Industry Packs I/O modules.

The product line-up includes two to four Industry Pack sites. These are slated for I/O design and prototyping. The Industry Packs are single wide and VITA-4-compliant. They support both 8MHz and 32MHz operations.

The PCI/cPCI products feature Texas Instruments' TMS320C6713B digital signal processors (DSPs) clocking at 300MHz. These 3U-sized and 6U-sized cPCI and PCI bus boards also run PLX Technology 9056 accelerator chips.

The products support 33/66MHz bus speeds and 3.3V and 5V I/O bus signaling. Software support for Windows XP is also provided.

Altera, Xilinx FPGAs
The PMC and Industry pack modules use Altera and Xilinx FPGAs. Supported devices include the Xilinx Spartan, Altera's 10K Series (up to 10k130, and Altera's Cyclone FPGAs.

Modules feature up to 2Mbytes of dual-port SRAM, and 50 I/O lines. The output I/O driver gives you the option of using LVDS (low-voltage differential signaling), TTL or RS-422 differential serial.

Software support
These modules also ship with basic test and example code. Alphi also offers custom hardware/software design services, as well as FPGA development.

Alphi also offers extended temperature, conformal coated, ruggedized versions for harsh environments. To date Alphi offers over eight different FPGA modules. Additional features include external FIFO/memory options up to 4-Mbytes in size.

Software drivers and/or library examples are also available. You can also get a line of transition modules, engineering kits and appropriate cables.
