New 2525-footprint inductors feature 3mm profile

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. has announced the expansion of its IHLP family of low-profile, high-current inductors with the addition of new 2525-footprint devices offering a height profile of 3mm and inductance values from 22H down to 1H.

Promising the lowest DCR/H for their respective package sizes, Vishay said the new IHLP inductors serve as high-performing, space- and power-saving solutions for voltage regulator module (VRM) and DC/DC converter applications in end products including next-generation mobile devices; notebooks, desktop computers, servers, graphic cards, portable gaming devices, personal navigation systems, personal multimedia devices and automotive systems; low-profile, high-current power supplies and point of load (POL) converters; distributed power systems; and, FPGAs.

According to the company, its Dale IHLP2525CZ11 inductors measure 6.47-by-6.86mm with a height profile of 3mm. They occupy the standard 2525 footprint shared by lower-profile IHLP devices while providing higher rated current and lower DCR values. The new devices are specified for saturation currents ranging from 2.5A to 9.5A, typical DCR values ranging from 7.6 milliohms to 128.9 milliohms, and maximum DCR values ranging from 8 milliohms to 135 milliohms. Standard inductance tolerance is 20 percent. They handle high transient current spikes without hard saturation and operate at a frequency up to 1MHz, the company explained.

Packaged in an RoHS-compliant, 100 percent Pb-free shielded, composite construction that reduces buzz noise to ultra-low levels, the new devices are specified for an operating temperature range of 55C to 125C with high resistance to thermal shock, moisture, mechanical shock, and vibration, Vishay said.

Sample and production quantities of the new inductors are currently available. Lead time for production quantities is eight to ten weeks.
