Ultra-thin tactile switches with full illumination

Touting a distinctive appearance and functionality, NKK Switches offers the JL series of ultra-thin, full-face illuminated tactile switches for human interface displays.

Not a typical tact style switch, the JL series switch measures 22mm2 and features a black housing to frame a 19mm square actuator. The actuator is made of polycarbonate, located over multiple LED arrays and interior reflectors that increase illumination. LEDs are available in red, green or amber. Actuator colors are white, red, amber and green.

Rated for 50mA at 24Vdc, the JL series switches are robust devices featuring a short stroke and high reliability. These SPST momentary switches have a dome contact mechanism engineered to provide crisp tactile and audible feedback. The JL switches are guaranteed with 1,000,000 electrical and mechanical operations minimum. The housing and case are constructed of glass fiber reinforced polyamide and the terminals are brass with silver plating.

The JL series features an ultra-low-profile that measures 7.85mm from the PCB to the top of the switch. The PC terminals are crimped to provide a spring-type action that ensures secure mounting and prevents dislodging during the soldering process. The switch's spacing is .100-by-.100 inch and conforms to standard grids. In addition, the streamlined housing dimensions allow for compact, side-by-side mounting on the grid. Custom legends are available.

The JL series can be specified in a RoHS compliant version by adding "-RO" to the end of the part number when ordering. NKK also offers the RoHS-compliant HP series of 6mm tactile switches.
