At the recent Certified Wireless USB Developers Conference, test-and-measurement vendor LeCroy Corp. demonstrated the benefits of its previously introduced extensible UWBTracer protocol analyzer. The modular platform now supports multiple Certified Wireless USB Association and Security models, too.

LeCroy's system includes interchangeable RF modules that let you swap the RF front-end on the analyzer as next-generation PHY devices become available.

Now with security support, LeCroy says its UWBTracer is ready for the next wave of media access control layer testing for Certified Wireless USB. The UWBTracer now captures and maintains connection context keys for both numeric and USB cable-based association models.

Seamless operation
This adjunct now lets you seamlessly trigger on, and decode, encrypted payloads within Certified Wireless USB traffic. This is significant, as Certified Wireless USB incorporates robust security that makes snooping the contents of Certified Wireless USB packets virtually impossible.

A protocol analyzer such as the UWBTracer offer realtime decryption and triggering on specific Certified Wireless USB events. That's a necessity for debugging and testing products based on the wireless technology.

Plug-in module
The UWBTracer CATC5K analyzer now accepts the plug-in module in an expansion slot. With the module installed, the USB cable tap automatically captures the connection context keys for paired devices.

The analyzer also supports the numeric association model that permits manual data entry of the connection context keys. In both cases, the UWBTracer automatically stores and re-uses connection keys to decrypt future recordings between paired devices. By preserving this information, you're no longer burdened with inputting the security key for every recording.

LeCroy says its UWBTracer USB Association module is available now.
