300W power module supports ATCA specs
Keywords:Tyco Electronics? PIM300? power input module? Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture? ATCA?
Tyco Electronics' PIM300 power input module, delivering 300W, complies with the Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA, AdvancedTCA) specifications. An update to the company's PIM200, the PIM300 provides 50 percent more power in the same footprint (2.78-by-1.45inches) and pin-out.
The PIM300, working from a -38Vdc to -75Vdc input that's suitable for both -48Vdc and -60Vdc power distribution systems, features inrush current protection, OR-ing and hot-plug capabilities, a 72Vdc auxiliary boost supply for charging external holdup capacitors, 8W of auxiliary power for IPM and housekeeping functions, and an operating efficiency of 97 percent. The module is protected against input under-voltage, over-voltage, over-current and over-temperature conditions.
The system is suited for use with the company's bus converters and point-of-load modules. These include the QBW025 series, a 12V, 25A bus converter, and the Lynx series of 3A-30A point-of-load modules. The POLs support EZ-Sequence, allowing designers to implement a scalable intermediate-bus architecture for their ATCA boards.
The PIM300 is priced at $53.10 each in 1,000-unit quantities. Samples are available.
