Three new CF Type I/II card ejector designs

Giving PCB designers greater design flexibility, 3M Electronic Solutions Division offers three new CompactFlash (CF) Type I and II card ejector designs. The ejectors can be attached to any existing 3M long guide CF II headers that mate to standard CompactFlash Type I and II flash memory cards.

Available with three new ejection options, the first is an alternate button ejection configuration that ejects from the left side when attached to a top mount header and the right side when attached to a bottom mount header. Another option is a two push-point eject configuration that uses a top mounted right button/bottom mounted left button mechanism to push against two separate points of the CF card. This option offers a smoother ejection cycle than single push point models, according to the company.

A latching button ejection configuration is also available where the latching button clips onto the inserted card to provide additional card retention security. All 3M CF II ejectors are RoHS compliant.

Typically, ejectors are used in applications where CF II headers are at the edge of a PCB, however, they also can be used in storage-based, internal board-mount applications where customers may want to occasionally eject the CF card for service or upgrade, said the company. These card ejectors may be used in high-end computing, consumer electronics, industrial or factory automation applications, as well as amusement and gaming applications.
