For board-level data acquisition, communications and industrial I/O applications, Astrodyne's single-output ASD50 series of DC/DC converters, in 18 basic versions, deliver 25W to 50W at 2.5Vdc to 24Vdc from a 2:1-wide input source (9-18Vdc, 18-36Vdc, 36-75Vdc, depending on model).

These supplies feature pi-input filtering, line regulation of 0.2 percent or better, load regulation of 0.2 percent or better, and ripple and noise of 75mVp-p (for models providing up to 5V; 100mVp-p for models providing up to 15V, and 240mVp-p for 24V models). Output voltage is trimmable to 10 percent. Transient response is less than 500s for a 25 percent change in load. Typical operating efficiency is 76 percent (2.5V models) to 86 percent (24V models).

These 300kHz (nominal 12-24V input) and 400kHz (48V input) modules provide continuous short-circuit protection, current-limiting (110 percent to 150 percent of rated load), and over-voltage protection (115 percent to 140 percent of output). Input-to-output isolation is 1500Vdc. The supplies are rated for operation over -40 to 100C (case temperature). MTBF is more than 1 million hours as per MIL-HDBK-217F.

The ASD50, weighing 141.7g and in a five-sided shielded enclosure measuring 2.28-by-2.4-by-0.5inches and with a pinout that's compatible with industry standards, is priced starting at $46 each in OEM quantities. Delivery is stock to four weeks ARO.
