IAR Systems, Micrium to market embedded development solutions

IAR Systems, a provider of embedded development tools, and Micrium, a provider of embedded software components, announced that they have signed a business agreement under which both companies will market and sell each other's products. IAR Systems and Micrium will provide interoperable solutions that aim to speed customer development times.

"IAR has taken this strategic step in order to expand its customer offering, allowing developers of embedded systems to benefit from one-stop shopping for our integrated development tools and RTOS/middleware from Micrium," said Olle Eriksson, president of IAR. "With two strong brands and tight product integration, we believe that this agreement will bring a strong proposition to the market."

Under the new partnership, offerings including the IAR Embedded Workbench and the μC/OS-II from Micrium will be available for selected 8bit, 16bit and 32bit microcontrollers. Related products such as a TCP/IP stack, file system and USB stack from Micrium, and starter kits and the IAR J-Trace debugger for ARM from IAR Systems, are included under the agreement. Both companies will provide first-line technical support to respective customers.

IAR Systems and Micrium will begin to sell each other's products worldwide in Q3 2006.
