Digital Photo Frame reference design

SigmaTel recently launched new Digital Photo Frame reference designs and features based around the company's STDC7150 Image Processor SoC. SigmaTel said these reference designs offer customers a faster time-to-market advantage with a low BOM cost to satisfy the growing market for Digital Photo Frame, a new product category for the home or office that displays millions of images captured daily on digital cameras and camera phones.

Supporting a range of LCD sizes from 5- to 12inches, the STDC7150 reference designs enable retailers to offer the Digital Photo Frame starting at price points below $100. STDC7150 combines an Image Processor hardware with an advanced 32bit RISC processor, the company said, supporting both robust digital image processing and general system functions such as networking. To support system expandability, the device can connect multiple peripherals via USB 2.0 High-Speed Host ports, providing a system upgrade path for features such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

"The STDC7150 design solutions provide a great advantage to SigmaTel customers entering the Digital Photo Frame market, or customers interested in expanding their product line," said Peter Morris, VP and general manager of SigmaTel's Imaging Systems Group.

The STDC7150 reference designs provide a full-featured Photo Frame application, ready for customer integration. The STDC7150 is currently shipping in a number of Digital Photo Frames available through SigmaTel partners AMAX and Fengher offering several reference designs.

The STDC7150 SoC solution is available today. The STDC7150 evaluation kit is available through the company's local sales offices.
