Winbond's 32bit solution cuts product development time

Winbond has launched the integrated general 32bit single-chip W90P710 and W90N745, and a comprehensive development proposal to reduce product development time of system houses.

The W90P710 and W90N745 devices make use of ARM's 32bit ARM7TDMI core with built-in Ethernet MAC. It also integrates USB 1.1 host/device controller to have the applications connected to various computer accessories through the USB interface, Windbond said, giving overall added value to the product.

The company said that the new products make use of the 0.18m production to achieve standard operation at 80MHz. The 176-/128-Pin LQPF packing is also used to save electricity and lower costs. The built-in 4Kbytes I-Cache and 4Kbytes D-Cache of the new device can also be set as on-chip RAM according to the needs of product developers.

The new product integrates a flexible External Bus Interface (EBI), which supports various I/O components such as ROM, Flash, SDRAM, and PCMCIA cards. W90P710 also contains the high resolution TFT, STN LCD controller to support the display. Apart from USB and EBI, the device has four groups of UART interfaces for connection with more facilities during the clients' design of various applications, such as barcode scanners, VFD panels, debugging and Bluetooth.

With regards to system integration, other than POS application, W90P710 is also suitable for data collector, digital picture frame and products with LCD displays, whereas W90N745 is suitable for network-related applications such as switch management, IP cameras, VoIP and printer servers.
