Analysys International, an internet based provider of business information about technology, media and telecom industries in China, disclosed that China's laptop PC shipments reached 1.012 million units in Q2 2006, representing an increase of 1.6 percent over the previous quarter.

The laptop market value reached approximately $210 million, up 2.2 percent quarter over quarter, said Analysys International in its recently released report China Laptop Market Quarterly Tracker Q2 2006.

Compared with Q2 2005, laptop shipments in this year's Q2 increased 45 percent, while the market value increased by 9.7 percent. Analysys International attributed this growth to the falling prices of laptop PCs.

As price falls, Chinese users of laptop PC are growing rapidly, accounting for 30.04 percent of the total market, reaching 304,000 units in Q2 2006. In addition, mid-range and low-end products remained as market mainstream. Shipments of laptops priced between $620 and $870 accounted for 33 percent of the total market, which are mostly bought by domestic users, the report said.

The Analysys International report further said that Lenovo, Hewlett-Packard and Dell continued to lead the laptop market in China in Q2, with market shares of 34.1, 11 and 9.4 percent, respectively.
