Mainstream monitor panel price is expected to see a significant increase starting from this month, said research firm WitsView.

Owing to the tight and mismatch supply on raw material from abrupt rising demand, 17-inch monitor panel price is likely to surge by 3-5 percent following a $1 rebound in the second half of July. Likewise, 19-inch monitor panel price is expected to see a rise for the first time since May last year although the momentum might not be as strong as that of 17-inch.

WitsView added that vendors aim to keep notebook panel price stable as they notice seasonal demand is set to emerge. Based on their cost structure, notebook panel price is now below their raw material and manufacturing cost. As a result, there is no need to compete for orders with price trade off especially when the demand is getting better.

By contrast, TV segment has mixed sounds as some second tier TV brand names attempt to approach with lower price. However, in general, TV panel price will continuously go down, but at a decelerating rate.
