Avago's HDJD-JD02 development kit

Avago Technologies has introduced three easy-to-use "plug and play" development kits that are designed to save time when evaluating the company's RGB color sensors.

All that is needed to use any of the HDJD-JDXX RGB color sensor development kits is a personal computer. Each "all-in-one-box" kit comes complete with all the tools and software that customers need to develop their color sensing and measurement applications. These kits include installation procedures, color sensing modules (transmissive and reflective) and a color reader board.

The kit also includes a user-friendly software interface that provides customers an interactive workspace on their PC to experience color recognition and differentiation, and to calibrate Avago's RGB color sensors to meet their specific application needs. The company also notes that the kits are suitable for use by designers who have little or no prior experience using color sensors for their applications.

Target applications of the RGB color sensor products include dashboards and interior lighting in automobiles, illumination and color management in LCD displays, and automatic interior and exterior lighting systems used in homes and businesses. Other applications include consumer electronics, portable medical devices, laboratory equipment, portable color readers and industrial equipment.

The HDJD-JD02 kit, embedded with Avago's HDJD-S722-QR999 color sensor, is used to detect the presence of specific colors in a variety of applications ranging from medical analyzers to paint pigment and coating applications to LCD displays.

The HDJD-JD05, embedded with the ADJD-S313-QR999 digital color sensor, can interface with a microcontroller without the need for any additional components. This digital sensor is suitable for use in a variety of portable display applications such as mobile devices, MP3 players and PDAs where it can be used in conjunction with a white LED for reflective color measurement.

The HDJD-JD06, embedded with the ADJD-E622-QR999 automotive-grade color sensor, is suitable for use in dashboard illumination, automotive interior lighting, infotainment and navigational displays. This solution, which meets Automobile Electronics Council AEC-Q100 standards, combines a photodiode array and three transimpedance amplifiers in a single monolithic CMOS IC solution.
