Clock generators target data comms, base station apps

Maxim Integrated Products has introduced a series of MAX945x clock generators available in three output types: LVPECL (MAX9450), LVDS (MAX9451) and HSTL (MAX9452).

By integrating the VCXO, PLL, buffer, and clock source, the MAX945x clock generators save cost and space over a discrete solution. The new devices also have redundant inputs, suitable for applications that require holdover if an input fails.

The MAX945x series accepts input from 8kHz to 500MHz and drives output up to 160MHz. The devices also feature clock output jitter less than 0.8PSrms in a 12kHz to 20MHz band. These low-jitter, high-performance clock generators ensure reliability in the system, Maxim said, and target SONET and SDH data communications systems and base station applications.

The new devices operate over the -40C to 85C temperature range and from a 2.4V to 3.6V supply. They are available in 32-pin TQFP packages with exposed paddles. Prices start at $10.85 (10,000-up, FOB USA).
