Voltage monitors offer capacitor-adjustable timing delay

Maxim Integrated Products has introduced voltage monitors with capacitor-adjustable timing delays to meet today's complex power-sequencing requirements: the MAX16025/MAX16026/MAX16041 (dual), the MAX16027/MAX16028/MAX16042 (triple), and the MAX16029/MAX16030/MAX16043 (quad).

The MAX16025/MAX16027/MAX16029 have open-drain outputs and reset outputs; the MAX16026/MAX16028/MAX16030 have push-pull outputs; and, the MAX16041/MAX16042/MAX16043 have open-drain outputs with a push-pull reset output. When all the monitored voltages are above their respective specified threshold, a separate reset output de-asserts to allow the microcontroller to operate. All these devices can operate from 2.2V to 28V with outputs capable of handling up to 28V, Maxim said, which allows them to easily interface to standard bus voltages.

Two logic inputs are used to select one of nine threshold options. These nine options offer fixed (3.3-, 2.5-, 1.8-, 1.5- and 1.2V) and user-adjustable thresholds for monitoring voltages as low as 0.5V. The combination of selectable and adjustable thresholds and capacitor timing makes these devices suitable for use across multiple design platforms, the company said, and thus simplifies inventory management.

The MAX16025-MAX16030 and MAX16041/MAX16042/MAX16043 also include enable inputs for controlling each monitor, a tolerance input to select for a -7.5 percent or -12.5 percent nominal threshold, a manual-reset input, and a fixed- or adjustable-reset timeout feature. All devices are specified from -40C to 125C, and are offered in a Pb-free, 4-by-4mm TQFN package. Prices start at $1.19 (1,000-up, FOB USA).
