China's mobile communication subscribers reached 426 million by the end of Q2 2006, increasing 4.08 percent quarter over quarter, according to recent reports from Analysys International. The Internet-based provider also said that the total mobile value-added services (VAS) market reached $826 million, an increase of 5.76 percent quarter over quarter.

According to the Analysys' report, ''China Mobile VAS Market Quarterly Tracker Q2 2006,'' interactive voice recognition (IVR) became a star service in Q2 with a market size reaching $125 million.

The WAP service market reached $225 million, while the growth rate slowed down in Q2. The WAP service market size was very close to the SMS market size, which are the two biggest VAS services, said Analysys.

Affected by seasonal factors and operators' policies, the MMS market size declined to $27.9 million, slightly down 2.66 percent over the previous quarter. Meanwhile, JAVA service market size reached $25 million, increasing 4.62 percent year over year, but the growth rate slowed down.
