Dominant's 6-Lead Multi DomiLED

Dominant Semiconductors has introduced the new 6-Lead Multi DomiLED, which the company said is simply like a band of colors as seen in a rainbow. With its minute size, the company said this package may be used in compact applications. A wide range of colors can be generated by color mixing.

The 6-Lead Multi DomiLED device is comprised of three chips: red, true green and blue. Each chip can be controlled individually, a useful feature that eases circuit designs, said the company. The chips used are selected from the top range to enhance brightness. The latest chip manufacturing technologies are likewise employed to ensure high optical efficiency, explained Dominant.

The package is designed for low current drive, with each chip driving 20mA. The viewing angle is optimized to 120 for display applications. The 3.2-by-3-by-1.7mm package is encapsulated in a silicone material to ensure outstanding product life-time.

The 6-Lead Multi DomiLED is designed for backlighting, full color display and architecture lighting. In order to enhance contrast, the top surface is black printed.
