Spansion appoints new VP of Korean operations

Flash memory manufacturer Spansion Inc. announced the appointment of Steve Kwon as vice president of its Spansion Korea operation.

Kwon joins Spansion from LG Electronics, where he spent 30 years in various executive and managerial roles, most recently as executive vice president of corporate quality management. In that role, Kwon contributed to increase LG's market share in the global and domestic mobile phone market through the concept of quality management.

As a vice president of Spansion Korea, he will lead Spansion's local business expansion including overseeing its strategy, sales and marketing activities, operations and Spansion's design center, which works with OEMs and ODMs to optimize memory subsystem performance using Spansion flash memory.

"Flash memory is a strategic component to all digital electronics and Korea is home to many innovative companies in the high-end mobile phone and consumer electronics markets," said Jeff Davis, executive vice president of worldwide sales and marketing of Spansion, in a statement. "Steve's deep expertise with one of the leading innovators in this market will be an asset to the company as we plan to expand our business and are committed to meeting the local needs of our customers."
