Protek's signal generators

A series of four sweep-function generators and one pulse generator is now available from Protek Test and Measurement. The instruments are 2-, 4-, 10- and 20MHz models.

For starters, Protek's TTL-output Model B8011 2MHz model features sweep as well as a built-in frequency counter. Those are features usually found on more expensive units.

The $253 B8011 sweep/function generator also includes a 4-digit frequency counter, and generates sine, squarewave, ramps and pulse waveforms in seven ranges with 100:1 frequency control. A variable symmetry control is also included. The B8011 can operate as low as 0.02Hz. The frequency counter features 100mV sensitivity.

Model B8400 4MHz generator spans a 4Hz to 4MHz range. It delivers continuous wave (CW) outputs and can be operated in triggered and gated modes. Like the B8011, it also packs a sweep output. You can select 1000:1 linear sweep and 10,000:1 log sweep widths. The B8400 also includes a variable gain control input. It sells for $296.

Next up is Protek's $445 Model B8010. It's the 10MHz model, with a 0.01Hz to 10MHz range. It includes Log/Lin sweep plus burst/gate and triggered modes. It will also accommodate external FM/AM modulation. The B8010 also provides for TTL sync.

Model B821 is the 20MHz sweep generator with counter, spanning a 0.2Hz to 20MHz range. This nifty-looking piece of test gear includes a built-in 8-digit 3GHz frequency counter.

Priced at $643, the B821 generates sine, squarewave, triangle wave, ramp and pulse outputs. It can also generate a skewed sinewave. Like the B8011, it also offers variable symmetry. The B821 also includes a TTL output.

Last in the line-up of new wares is Protek's 1kHz through 10MHz pulse generator. Dubbed the Model B1990, it includes provision for variable pulse width and delay. An internal/external trigger is also included.
