CEATEC Japan to focus on digital convergence

New industries and markets emerging through the convergence of computers and home appliances, and of broadcasting and communications will be the focus of CEATEC Japan 2006. With "Digital Convergence Changing Society, Lifestyles and Business" as its theme, CEATEC Japan 2006 will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture and will run from Oct. 3 to 7.

Keynote speakers during the event include Eric B. Kim of Intel Corp., Atsutoshi Nishida of Toshiba Corp., Naoyuki Akikusa of Fujitsu Ltd and Yoshio Utsumi of International Telecommunications Union.

CEATEC Japan was launched in 2000 through the merger of two of Japan's leading trade exhibitions. The predecessors were COM JAPAN, which was designed in line with new information and communications needs, and the Japan Electronics Show, the oldest trade exhibition in Japan.

CEATEC Japan is sponsored by the Communications and Information network Association of Japan, the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association and the Japan Personal Computer Software Association.
