Envivio Inc. has introduced a new version of its 4Caster M2, touted to be the first and only multirate, multiresolution and multistandard encoder that outputs eight simultaneous profiles with live bit rate switching from a single video input. This feature set makes the device the most advanced mobile encoder available, according to Envivio.

"The 4Caster M2 fully addresses video convergence by supporting any mobile device on any network," said Julien Signes, president and CEO of Envivio.

Key features of the 4Caster M2 include: (1) Video to any network, including 2.5G, 3G, and 3.5G networks, mobile broadcast networks such as DVB-H, as well as next generation networks such as Wi-Fi and WiMAX; (2) Support for most network standards, including 3GPP, 3GPP2, DVB-H, DMB and ISDB-T; (3) Extensive device support, including the most popular video handsets currently deployed in mobile networks, as tested and verified by Envivio customers and partners; (4) Management and output of up to eight subscriber profiles simultaneously, thereby reducing total cost of ownership; (5) Simultaneous streaming and broadcasting of mobile video at multiple bit rates to ensure the highest quality video for any network being used and any device being targeted, and; (6) Live bit rate switching, a feature that enables the video encoder to modify the bit rate in real time as a result of changes in the quality of the network.

In order to address the needs of a telco-grade deployment, Envivio said the M2 includes all the standard professional features of the 4Caster product line, such as complete network management with N+M redundancy systems, digital and analog audio and video inputs, and web management. In addition, the M2 supports ISMACryp, ISMA wireless standards and can be integrated with mainstream mobile ecosystem components to offer a complete mobile video headend solution.

Whatever the network, whatever the video standard, whatever the device and whatever the change in available bandwidth, the M2 is the suitable system to support the mobile TV services of today and tomorrow, according to Envivio.
