Green Hills Software Inc. said its micro-Velosity RTOS is now available for Analog Devices Inc.'s Blackfin processors.

According to Green Hills, a device software optimization provider, the micro-Velosity's ROM and RAM footprints and service calls as low as 30 cycles make the RTOS well suited for the convergent applications targeted by Blackfin, including multiformat audio, video, voice and image processing, multimode baseband and packet processing, control processing and real-time security.

"The combination of micro-Velosity and Blackfin are ideal for power-sensitive, cost-sensitive and performance-critical electronic products, offering users the ability to achieve the fastest time-to-market with the lowest deployment cost," said Gerald McGuire, general manger of the convergent platform and services group at Analog Devices.

In June, Express Logic Inc. filed suit seeking an injunction of micro-Velosity. Express Logic claims micro-Velosity infringes on its ThreadX API. At the time, an executive from Express Logic called applications micro-Velosity a "thinly veiled copy" of ThreadX.
