Memory Stick Duo connector from SMK

SMK recently announced the expansion of small memory card connectors portfolio with the addition of a Memory Stick Duo connector. The Memory Stick Duo is expected to earn greater demands as DSCs, mobile phones and information data terminals become more functional and further rapid market penetration takes place.

SMK said its new connector provides a half-locking mechanism for the slider to prevent cards from flying out when one is removed and to avoid forced removal of a card while engaged. The connector has a unique card fly-out deterring feature and a mechanism preventing card insertion from the opposite direction, thereby preventing card damage. Features that safeguard data on cards are also provided. Card insertion/ejection is supported by a sure clicking sensation, a result of a push (lock)/push (eject) design.

The RoHS compliant connector has a 2.2mm profile when mounted and has an operating life of 12,00 cycles. It is rated for 0.6A at 125Vac and can withstand 500Vac for 1m.

To be in the market this month, the device is priced at $2.57 per unit.
