Tyco Electronics has announced its latest Ultra-Pod fully insulated FASTON receptacle that accepts 0.250 quick connect tabs. Available in straight or flag (90) arrangements, the new design of the Ultra-Pod device allows for two-wire termination, or wire "doubling," in a single receptacle.

The insulator is available in UL 94 V-0 or V-2 nylon and the terminal is brass or tin-plated brass. The product complies with UL and CSA electrical and mechanical standards for quick-connect electrical terminals. The F-crimp style wire and insulation crimp terminations are said to provide excellent electrical performance and strain relief. The crimp quality can be monitored and tracked, said the company.

Both the straight and flag arrangement are suitable for lead maker termination, allowing for high-speed processing. Upon processing, the Ultra-Pod fully FASTON receptacles are terminated and insulated in a single step. Typical applications include household appliances, HVAC equipment, commercial and business equipment, lighting, lawn and garden equipment and power supplies.

The Ultra-Pod fully insulated FASTON receptacle can be terminated using existing Tyco applicators and machinery. This product is RoHS compatible. Pricing ranges from $45 to $81 per thousand pieces in quantities of 50,000. Deliveries are typically five to six weeks.
