Low-cost oscillator has 'extremely' low jitter
Keywords:Fox? oscillators? XpressO?
Fox Electronics announced it is now offering a small, silicon-based oscillator with extremely low jitter. The LVDS and LVPECL versions of the oscillator, which are part of the company's new XpressO family, cost 30 percent less than traditional LVDS/LVPECL quartz oscillators, the company said.
Noise reducing DSM technology and proprietary low-noise architecture decrease jitter and phase noise in the 3.3V XpressO oscillator. The oscillators' new design and ASICs allow for accurate performance, decreased costs, shorter lead times and increased flexibility, Fox said. The oscillators are available in LVDS and LVPECL versions for XO packages, and the company's ceramic package sizes are 7.5-by-5mm and 5-by-3.2mm. Because pricing does not vary depending on package size, there is no penalty for purchasing a smaller package.
The new oscillators are applicable in a variety of functions requiring high stability ratings, from HDTV and optical networking to broadband applications for Internet, as well as video and data transfer. The oscillators feature a frequency range from 1MHz to 1.1GHz, stabilities as tight as 20ppm, and next day shipment for samples and within 10 days for production quantities.
Pricing for XpressO oscillators will vary depending on output, frequency and stability needed. A 3.3V, 50ppm, LVDS/LVPECL, 155.52MHz oscillator costs $4.32 in quantities of 1,000.
