Taiwan's PCB manufacturers HannStar Board Corp. and Gold Circuit Electronics Ltd (GCE) expect the notebook PC sector to drive the demand for PCBs this quarter.

HannStar Board will be shipping 6 to 6.5 million units of notebook-use PCBs, an increase of about 15 percent from its shipments of 1.5 million units last quarter, according to industry sources. HannStar has also reportedly begun shipping PCBs to Inventec Corp. last month.

Meanwhile, GCE forecasts that shipments for the notebook PCB segment will rise by 5 percent to 10 percent this quarter, to about 5 million units from last quarter's 4.5 million units. The company is also optimistic for Q4, expecting shipments to surpass the 5 million mark.
