O2Micro granted battery gauge patent

O2Micro International Ltd was issued 14 claims under U. S. patent number 7,081,737 for its battery cell monitoring and balancing circuit.

According to the company, the patented IC architecture enables monitoring and balancing voltage levels of a Li-ion or Li-Polymer battery pack, and its individual cells, through a highly accurate low power battery gauge function.

In addition, applications using this invention can be easily modified resulting in quicker design cycles and use in a wide variety of battery models. Product applications include notebook computers, UPS, electric bike, electric vehicle, etc.
