SMK's 3.5mm jack

SMK has announced the development of a 3.5mm 3-pole jack (low profile type) with a vertical switch. The device was designed to enable portable audio devices to be connected to in-car audio equipment, particularly where smaller configurations are required. This jack has a profile of 10mm above the surface of PWBs to accommodate this. SMK said this 10mm profile is the industry's shortest for 3.5mm jacks with an independent switch, making the device suitable for applications where thinness and smallness are critical requirements.

The independent switch circuit enables detection of plug insertion. Contact reliability is enhanced with a make-switch design by using a leaf spring, which has a self-cleaning effect, and a 2-contact structure with the switch contact. The product comes in with-sleeves (LGM1019-0100F) or without-sleeves (LGM1009-0100F) versions.

This RoHS-compliant device is currently available at approximately 60 cents each.
