Pioneer files PDP patent lawsuit against SDI

Pioneer Corp. has filed a complaint against Samsung SDI Co. Ltd (SDI) and several other Samsung companies alleging SDI's infringement of Pioneer patents related to PDP technology.

Pioneer is seeking a court order in the Unites States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas against enjoining sales of infringing SDI products and compensation for past infringement. Pioneer's patents included in the suit include U.S. Patent No. 5,182,489 (plasma display having increased brightness) and U.S. Patent No. 5,640,068 (surface discharge plasma display).
