Cypress Semiconductor Corp. will present seminars for designers interested to learn more about its Programmable SoC (PSoC) Express code-free, visual development software. The free seminars will include an overview on the PSoC mixed-signal array architecture and technical PSoC Express training.

The first seminars will be held in Chicago and Dallas in the United States next week. Following these will be seminars in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen in China, Osaka and Tokyo in Japan, Delhi and Pune in India, Taipei in Taiwan, and Seoul in South Korea. The company also plans to hold seminars in both Europe and the Americas.

PSoC Express, introduced in 2005, is touted as the first easy-to-use development tool that allows system engineers to develop microcontroller-based designs without any assembly language or C programming. With built-in support for portability, seamless multi-processing, design visualization and a rich content library, it promises to enable designs to be created faster and with higher reliability. It also includes user definable pins and memory map, a state machine creator, multi-object move capability and the ability to duplicate and rename circuits.

Attendees will participate in a hands-on lab session wherein they can use a PSoC Express demonstration kit to visually implement I?C networks, CapSense capacitive sensing interfaces, WirelessUSB 2.4GHz RF remote sensors, USB interfaces and LCD display drivers.

"PSoC Express allows application experts to implement their system concepts without having to become C or Assembly language programming experts," said Jon Pearson, product manager for Cypress' PSoC development tools. "Because PSoC Express and PSoC Designer integrate seamlessly, we are confident that designers and engineers of all different experience and skill levels will benefit from these seminars."

Last month, Cypress announced the release of PSoC Express 2.1, the latest version of the development tool. This tool features third-party development capabilities that allow software developers to write modules for specific functions. It also adds new device drivers that designers can select to implement functions within a PSoC device, including 7-segment LED displays, thermocouples, accelerometers, I?C remote monitor and control devices, distance sensors, and ambient light sensors.
