Hynix Semiconductor Inc.'s facility in Wuxi, mainland China is reportedly fully prepared to take on DDR2 production after it has successfully posted yields on SDRAM production, according to industry sources. DRAM makers traditionally manufacture SDRAM at a new plant to test the quality of production before going ahead with mass production.

Industry players for the memory chip segment project that the increase in prices for SDRAM will likely persist as seasonal demand as well as limited supply continues. Analysis firm DRAMeXchange says that quotes for SDRAM have risen recently as the market maintains a high level of demand from the consumer electronics sector.

Supply shortage for the products also pressed the makers to make do with their available capacities from top companies, including Hynix and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. Prices of 256Mb SDRAM 133MHz and 64Mb 143/166MHz products slightly hiked by 3.96 percent, and has been on a stable level for the past quarter.
