Pericom Semiconductor Corp. has introduced its new Packet24 family of PCI Express packet switches consisting of four devicesthe four-port/24-lane PI7C9X20424; the three-port/24-lane PI7C9X20324; the four-port/16-lane PI7C9X20416; and, the four-port/12-lane PI7C9X20312.

The company said this new product family is specifically designed for low latency, low power consumption and optimized PCB layout.

These devices fully comply with the latest PCI-SIG PCIe 1.1 and PCI 1.2 specifications. Unique features include attributes-data reporting, multiple switch fabric QoS and configuration, special low-power and power-down modes, and programmable lane assignments for x4 or x8 lane width capability on a per-port basis.

"Pericom's latest PCIe packet switch product additions should be well received in the rapidly growing PCI Express marketplace," said Jag Bolaria, senior analyst at The Linley Group. "The market for third party semiconductors is expected to be several hundred million by 2009 and Pericom, with its multiple PCI Express product family presence, has positioned itself to take advantage of that market growth."

Pericom's PCI Express product offerings include bridges, packet switches, PHY, re-drivers, signal switches and clock/timing solutions.
